ID Theft Penalty
Most id thieves either get a slap on the wrist, or a token sentence of five years in prison, which will likely be reduced to 18 months for good behavior. What is a reasonable penalty given that the victim may suffer far more than five years of aggravation and sustain significant loss to both their reputation and finances?

I'm so glad you started posting again, I hope to hear from you more in the future.
In regards to the penalty for identity theft, I hope authorities get tougher on criminals, otherwise the problem will continue to grow. In my neighborhood (Portland, OR) there's a current case going on of a guy who is guilty of ID theft, but also police identity theft, and I'm interested to see how local courts handle the sentencing.
But at least he left behind a hilarious YouTube video!!
Identity theft is really widely spread all over the world.
If we cannot stop this, this will result to a big problem of our community.
